Class 2022-1: February 1, 2022 – April 21, 2022.
Class 2022-2: September 22, 2022 – December 6, 2022

There are many challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises, so it’s important that board members of even the smallest companies are able to address them head on with the right knowledge and competencies. Studies show that companies with professional boards organize themselves more effectively, make better decisions and tend to promote long-term value creation. Studies also show that companies with one or more professional board members survive longer, grow faster and expand their businesses into more international markets. Board Work in High-Growth SMEs provides board members and business owners with the fundamental tools needed to tackle the essential tasks, issues and dilemmas of boards in small and medium-sized enterprises.

Profile of Participants

The course is for anyone who has the ambition to work professionally with board work in small, medium-sized and owner-managed companies.

Board work in Small and Medium-sized Companies is aimed at board members who either have limited experience with board work or demand tools and knowledge of more value-creating board work, as well as owner owners who are considering establishing an external board or who can see an opportunity for the development of the current board work.

The course is pre-approved by the Danish Bar Association as compulsory continuing education for lawyers and legal assistants with 44.5 lessons.

  • Overview of the board’s tasks and issues
  • Concrete tools and competencies for use in professional board work
  • Exchange of experience and dialogue about what boards should do and how – based on cases
  • Inspiration from experienced board members, professors and advisers in the Danish business community

The program combines experiential practice from boardrooms with research-based theory. All subjects are built around practical cases, with participants working in “real-life” board room scenarios. Discussions with professors and experienced board members give participants a first-hand experience of how to manage challenging tasks and how to learn from them. Furthermore, tested frameworks and theory are used to give participants a different perspective.

The program is aimed at board members who either have limited experience in board work or who seek to further educate themselves on value creation in the board room. The program is also targeted towards business owners who are considering the appointment of an external board or who can see an opportunity for development in their current board.
