The Board’s knowledge and competencies regarding strategic decisions and risk management of pension funds have become more significant as they must continually assess and deliberate on a number of critical topics, such as the risk/return balance, business models, solvency and compliance.
Like most of the programs that the CBS Board Leadership Education offers, Board Work in Pension Funds provides participants a 360° perspective on the key tasks and responsibilities of the Board as well as an overview of the regulatory framework and value drivers of the pension fund industry.
Curriculum and Approach

The program consists of two modules spread across four days; Module 1 focuses on the key pension fund disciplines of investments, risk assessment, solvency, regulation, business models, Corporate Governance and the Board’s tasks, priorities and interaction with executive management. Module 2 focuses on board competencies and evaluation, strategy and value creation, new products such public-private partnership investments, and corporate social responsibility. The program and case studies are facilitated by CBS professors, advisors and experienced chairpersons from the financial sector.
